Hair In The City is the Mission Valley studio of Janet Emerling, a curly-hair specialist with more than 40 years behind the chair (licensed 1979, California Hair Design Academy).

Owner / stylist, curly hair specialist

40+ years doing hair. Offered a cosmetology scholarship as a high-school junior in San Diego; licensed in 1979 at California Hair Design Academy (best student in her class). Ongoing training with Redken, Joico, Paul Mitchell, Kera Care, Affirm and Design Essentials. Expert in ethnic and biracial hair, skills honed styling her daughter Noell's hair; known for fixing other salons' curly-hair mistakes.
